With more than 25 years of healthcare industry experience, Gateway Credentialing founder Karey Collins has built her career around helping healthcare providers navigate the complex world of medical billing, insurance enrollment, and provider credentialing services.
Karey began her career after completing specialized training as a Certified Medical Assistant at a respected trade school, where she gained hands-on experience in front and back office operations, phlebotomy, medical billing, and patient care administration. After briefly working as a medical assistant, she joined Anthem Blue Cross, where her passion and expertise quickly advanced her career.
Beginning in the call center, Karey moved into roles as a claims processor, appeals specialist, and eventually a job trainer. During her time there, she worked closely with programmers and leadership teams to help transition the company from an outdated automated phone system to a modern IVR platform. She played a key role in system testing, implementation, and employee training for both new and existing staff.
What truly set Karey apart was her dedication to helping healthcare providers successfully resolve claim issues and receive timely reimbursement. Providers frequently relied on her knowledge and support, often contacting her directly for assistance with difficult billing and insurance matters. Through these experiences, Karey developed an in-depth understanding of the operational and financial challenges medical practices face every day.
Karey is also the owner of KC Medical Billing, which may be referenced in her reviews or on Yelp. Medical billing was originally our primary service, and as we recognized the growing need for provider credentialing support, we expanded our services to include comprehensive credentialing solutions for healthcare providers and practices.
That firsthand experience inspired Karey to launch Gateway Credentialing — a company focused on delivering reliable, personalized support in:
- Provider credentialing services
- Insurance payer enrollment
- Medicare and Medicaid enrollment
- CAQH setup and maintenance
- Provider contracting
- Medical billing support
- Recredentialing services
- Practice startup assistance
Today, Karey continues to help physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, behavioral health providers, and healthcare organizations simplify the credentialing process, reduce delays, and focus more time on patient care. Her mission is to provide responsive, knowledgeable service while building long-term partnerships with healthcare providers nationwide.
